When is a specialist support coordinator needed?

After the participant’s request, the National Disability Insurance Agency determines if it is reasonable and necessary to provide Specialist Support Coordination funding for Specialist Support Coordination in the individual’s NDIS plan.

When do you need a Specialist Support Coordinator?

  • The Specialist Support Coordinator can help you address complex barriers affecting your ability to access the proper support.
  • They also design a service plan for your specific support requirements
  • The Specialist Support Coordinator must work with the individual, family, and carers to understand the hindrances that prevent the individual from accessing certain services or supports. They also work with the participants to find alternative solutions.
  • They can guide you while navigating any issues or conflicts with your service providers in the NDIS journey.

The specialist support coordinator can work with you and find solutions for the challenges you may face during your journey. They can work with you, your family and carer to design a service plan that:

  • They ensure everyone can work together to help you pursue your goals.
  • They also mediate between participants and service providers to ensure services are delivered according to their needs and requirements.
  • They can also help manage any issues arising during service delivery from NDIS.
  • They help in the communication process to make the NDIS journey easy
  • They mitigate and cooperate so that services are well-coordinated and delivered promptly and effectively. Your support coordinator can help you with this by coordinating with your service providers and ensuring they understand your needs and expectations.
  • A support coordinator can help a participant identify and manage any crises. They can provide the necessary support, information, and resources to solve the problem.
  • The support coordinator will work with the participant to ensure the plan is up-to-date and effective.

Your Specialist Support Coordinator ensures that all services work effectively to help persons with a disability pursue their destination. They will work with the participant, family, friends and other service providers to ensure that the services the client receives are valid and delivered according to the plan created by the participant. They will also assist in reviewing the plan regularly in proper intervals and make necessary adjustments to make the way smooth for constantly receiving the appropriate support and service.
