Psychological Recovery Coaches
The persons who analyse the psychosocial disability in the individual and take responsibility for their recovery collaboratively work with their family, carer and other services. They design and implement recovery plans to improve the personal and social well-being of individuals dealing with mental health issues.
Support Coordinators
NDIS Support coordinators come under capacity building and work with the individual client to get the most out of their plan. They help deal with daily activities such as household chores or travelling issues and focus on long-term support while making them independent in the long run.
Difference Between Psychological Recovery Coach and Support Coordinator
The main differences between psychological recovery coaches and support coordinators are their roles, responsibilities, and areas of focus.
A psychological recovery coach provides non-clinical support to individuals with psychological issues. They focus on a personal approach to dealing with their clients’ psychosocial problems. They work closely with the individual, their friends and family, and their carers to understand their aspirations, instabilities, strengths, and requirements and provide guidance and assistance accordingly. They guide through the mental health system and try to develop recovery skills and community support.
Support Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing support and services of various levels to the participants with disabilities under their NDIS plan. They implement the services and help to use the funded support by coordinating between the clients and the service provider. They also ensure that the support aligns with the participant’s goals and requirements.
A psychological recovery coach aims for mental and psychosocial issues-related recovery and empowers the participants to accomplish their goals related to mental health problems and its solutions. They also help to connect them socially, through community participation and motivation for personal development.
Support coordinators help in the empowerment of the choices of the participants regarding their services with proper information and understanding of different levels, features and aspects of the NI+DIS plan. They also help them with end-to-end solutions to manage their plan and achieve personal aspirations.
The psychological recovery coaches can help only the participants of NDIS with psychological disabilities caused by mental trauma or disorder. They get the service for their mental health recovery issue, and it does not include physical health funding support.
The support coordinators can help with overall funding and services to all the eligible NDIS participants. They get overall support throughout their life for any kind of disability-related physical issues. Participants also get emotional support from their coordinators regarding any kind of mental support during their journey with NDIS regarding the support coordination plan.
Conclusion
The psychological support coach provides mental health issue-related non-clinical support to the participants, and the support coordinators focus on maintaining and managing the funding needed by the participants so that they can live their lives independently.
